Can I do it later?
I wonder if God was blogging, if He’d be posting a similar conversation He has had with me (several times) to the one I had with my son…

Me: (picking up one of Eli’s outside toys that was near the porch) Eli, would you like this toy in your clubhouse?
Eli: Yes, but I can do it! You stay there!
Me: Are you doing something you are not supposed to be doing?
Eli: (pause) Yes.
Me: Perhaps you had better stop.
Eli: Ok… can I do it later?
Me: No!
I’ve been told that I should be a basket-case. If you ask me, from time to time, we are all basket-cases for various reasons. But what people seem to really want to know is how I managed to escape fairly unscarred? Bottom line is I decided that the legacy I had to pass on didn’t have to be the one passed on to me… I could create a deliberate legacy… one of joy, one of laughter and hugs, and one where memories were worth saving.
Oh my – this is PRICELESS! It is such a true snapshot of the human condition. You couldn't make up such a rich mini-drama if you tried!!
Might I borrow it – with proper attribution, of course – for the purposes of training staff to work with therapy clients?
Please feel free to absolutely say no.

You most certainly can borrow it. I tell you, I could probably create a blog of just Eli’s random daily comments and insight!
